We offer year round breeding services of New Zealand Whites (NZW’s). We offer the option for timed pregnancies to fit your specific needs. With the NZW’s the gestation period is between 28 and 32 days. We do have access to most other breeds of rabbit if there is a certain kind you are looking for. QUALITY ASSURANCE
PARF has a complete environmental surveillance program to assure wellbeing of animals and the consistency of experimental data.
Like all research institutions, PARF has an Animal Care and Use Committee which reviews all protocols and procedures before work commences. Committee membership includes several highly experienced investigators and veterinarians from the New England area.
Veterinary Care is provided by a consultant laboratory animal veterinarian who is a diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM). The veterinarian has 24 years of experience in lab animal care and is a member of PARF’s Animal Care and Use Committee.
DAILY DELIVERIES
PARF has the flexibility to serve your research needs. We make daily deliveries and pick-ups of animals to the Boston Area and other New England Facilities.
Animals can be delivered to your facility by a specified time in the morning and then picked up in the afternoon. We are also capable of picking up incoming animals from the Airport or other locations. All of PARF’s delivery vehicles meet all criteria for animal transport. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of your animal studies while giving you economical alternatives to the high cost of animal housing and technical support.
PARF works with you and your institution. We are responsive to the needs of your Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee as well as other compliance personnel.
MORE THAN JUST BOARDING
PARF provides technical support to investigators. PARF technicians are certified by the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science. Many protocols and procedures can be carried out by PARF’s technical staff. This results in a further cost saving to the investigator. PARF has technical procedure areas and is continually developing new resources to meet the challenges of science. All services provided by PARF are conducted with strict confidentiality.

A CUT ABOVE THE REST
Included in PARF’s facility is a fully equipped dedicated surgical suite suitable for major operative procedures in non-rodent animal species. Surgical and Dental services are provided. Please inquire for details regarding your specific needs. PARF can provide your surgical model of cardiac catheterization in small and large animals. Surgery will be performed by qualified personnel with long term experience. CV’s are available upon request.
